Barry Cordero is a Director of Operations Excellence at Medtronic, the world’s largest medical device manufacturer, where he leads the continuous improvement strategy for Medtronic Diabetes, the fastest growing therapy division within the company.
Barry has a passion for diversity in Corporate America, specifically in tech companies. Having served as Chairman and CEO of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), he gained significant experience and influence in this area. He continues to develop this passion through his leadership in Medtronic’s Hispanic Latino Network executive committee, where he champions diversity and inclusion initiatives thorughout the company.
Most recently, Barry founded Rolling Belt Solutions LLC, where he consults as an operations expert in a variety of industries, in addition to providing public speaking services. His long history as an advocate for developing emerging and established minority professionals in leadership roles, while also leading complex teams to achieve and exceed strategic business imperatives, makes Barry a vital source for complex operations innovation, excellence, and efficiency.
In addition to his work at Medtronic, Barry currently serves as an Advisory Board member for The Data Initiative, a company dedicated to solving large business problems through curated and easily accessible data. With a critical eye to problem-solving and increasing productivity in oftentimes chaotic environments, Barry excels at providing support and guidance to teams and companies seeking to optimize operations efforts.
Barry has been featured in US News World Report, ABC News Blog’s Second Tour, Hispanic Executive, La Voz Latina and the San Francisco Chronicle for his passion for diversity in STEM. A Veteran of the US Navy Nuclear Program, Barry’s Bioengineering degree is from UCSD and he is an alum of the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
During his free time, Barry dedicates himself to his two children, and enjoys honing his BBQ smoker mastery, in addition to biking, running, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training.
Barry Cordero has served in various roles on multiple boards, most notably, as Board Chair and Interim CEO of Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers for 5 years. Barry is a Lean-Sigma Master Black Belt who co-authored Medtronic's current global curriculum and trained hundreds of students.
